Over the last fifteen years The Scottish Vision Group (SVG) has met each spring somewhere in Scotland for a weekend conference to discuss the results of their research on visual perception. This year’s meeting is organised by a committee from the Perception & Attention group based at the School of Psychology, University of Aberdeen. We are delighted to announce that our meeting will be held jointly with the AVA’s spring meeting.

This weekend meeting will commence with a round table on material perception (co-chairs: Marina Bloj and Mike Chantler) to be held 4.30-5.30pm on Friday the 8th of April, followed by the GJ Burton memorial lecture, given by Julie Harris (St Andrews). Saturday the 9th of April will have the CRS Lecture, which will be given by Andrew Schofield (Birmingham), as well as a series of talk sessions and a poster session. Sunday the 10th of April will contain talk sessions and the AVA AGM meeting and will finish at 12.30 with a packed lunch provided to all delegates.
Keynotes:

GJ Burton Memorial Lecture, by Julie Harris (St Andrews): Perception of 3D shape, Depth and Motion

CRS Lecture, by Andrew Schofield (Birmingham) – Seeing shadows in the twilight of life

Peebles is in the Scottish Borders, which would allow for driving up from the majority of areas of Scotland and from north/central England. It is also accessible from Edinburgh with a highly regular 45 minute bus, and Edinburgh is a major transport hub well connected by planes, trains and buses. The venue is the recently renovated Peebles Hydro hotel (http://www.peebleshydro.co.uk/).

Abstracts (max length: 250 words) should be submitted by Friday, February the 26th, at 5pm.

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed & published in the journal Perception (so long as presenting authors attend the meeting) and should cover previously unreported research involving any aspect of vision in humans, animals and machines. Abstracts must be in the standard format for ECVP/Perception, examples can be seen at:http://www.perceptionweb.com/P.html References should be given in the body of the abstract in full, but without the title. e.g. (Rayner et al, 2001, Vis Res, 41, 943-954) Unless otherwise stated (at the end of the abstract), it will be assumed that the first author will be the presenting author.
Note that no copyright agreement needs to be signed, but it is the authors responsibility to disclose or sort out any conflict of interest or the clearing of any copyright issues that might arise.

Please submit your abstract online:

Speakers should use their own laptop or bring a powerpoint presentation on a memory stick.

The organizers will try to accommodate preferences for a talk or poster but the number of submissions that this meeting is expected to attract means that this might not always be possible.

The conference fee includes registration, refreshments, all meals (dinner on 8.4., breakfast, lunch, dinner on 9.4., breakfast and packed lunch on 10.4.) and accommodation (Friday, Saturday) in the Peebles Hydro.
Please email the organiser if you would like to register only for some days of the conference or would like to register accompanying persons or special types of rooms. We will then provide you with a customised payment route.

Finally, the organisers are aware that the spring Experimental Psychology Meeting (EPS) is taking place in Durham just before this meeting and are happy to organise transport for those interested to attend both meetings if there is sufficient interest. Please write if you would like to book a place.

We look forward to seeing you in Peebles in the spring of 2016.
