Virtual AVA 2020 Meeting

21 Dec 2020

We are pleased to announce the programme for this year’s Christmas AVA meeting on the 21st December 2020.

This year we will be running the conference virtually and it will also include the annual general meeting (AGM). Registration for the meeting is free to AVA members, while non-members are able to register at the price of a membership fee and thus also join the organisation should they wish to do so. Members have the option to donate towards our grant funds.

We have created a dedicated website for the meeting: https://ava2020meeting.wordpress.com The website contains further information about the meeting, e.g. details on how the presentations will be done “virtually”, plus all the posters are available for viewing on the website prior to the meeting. Delegates have received a full attendance pack with Zoom IDs and passwords for all talk and poster sessions on Friday 18th December. If you think you are registered to attend but haven't received the attendance pack, please write to the secretariat (secretary@theava.net), we will be monitoring the email over the weekend and will do our best to help you out.

Abstracts are now available. Abstracts presented at the conference will be published in Perception.

We have two keynotes:

GJ Burton memorial lecture: Prof Anna Franklin (University of Sussex) – The development of colour perception.

AVA Christmas keynote: Prof Charles Leek (University of Liverpool) – Deep Neural Networks: A new framework for understanding image classification in biological vision?

The meeting is organised by the AVA committee members Samantha Strong (Aston University), Paul Warren (University of Manchester), Gunnar Schmidtmann (University of Plymouth), and Jasna Martinovic (University of Edinburgh). If you have any queries (formal or informal) please get in touch with the AVA secretariat (secretary@theava.net).

Registration is now closed. This is why we have disabled the Paypal registration buttons.

We had to close registration to allow us to send attendance packs to all delegates on the last working day prior to the meeting.

Registration was free for members of the AVA. If you are an AVA member and forgot to register but would still like to attend, please email the secretary (secretary@theava.net) before 5pm on Sunday and we will send you an attendance pack with Zoom IDs/passwords for the sessions.
